Sadly the area around the school is still insecure. The constant stress of conflict and drought is wearing everybody in the community down. However, the school is open and it is great to see that when the children are there they get a chance to forget the problems for a while. In these photographs they are practising the traditional dances that are still so popular. The boys are competing to see who can jump highest (and most stylishly), the girls have borrowed beads from older sisters and lead the song, breaking out to dance around the rest of the group in twos and threes.
Watching the children having fun makes us all feel a little better, brings smiles and laughter from even the most down hearted and gives us a new burst of energy to carry on.
