On the 18th of July Jonny, DARE’s technical guru and most dedicated supporter, begins an epic bike ride from his home in Edinburgh to our base in Isiolo, Kenya. I am extremely jealous. Not only will he be meeting interesting people and sampling all kinds of culinary delights along the way (living in a region with severe food insecurity makes you very wistful about such things) but he will also be raising money and awareness for the projects that DARE supports.
You can follow Jonny’s adventure on his website Dare to Ride where he will be keeping a blog and posting photographs of the journey. In case you are inspired to do something similar there is detailed information about his route, his equipment and the technology that will keep him in contact with us even in the middle of the desert. There is, of course, a donate page for those who are inspired but don’t wish to commit months of their lives to such an arduous task (you can just flex your credit card instead) and, right next to the ‘Donate to DARE’ button is a button that allows you to buy Jonny a coffee along the way, which I think he deserves!
