There are no classrooms, there is no kitchen, there is no water…… but apparently the kids don’t care. They kept coming to the school anyway while the staff were clearing up, so Maryanne (Olng’arua School’s wonderful cook) thought she would start making them lunch.

Then the teachers thought that they could be doing a few fun activities while they waited for the their lunch. And just like that, there was the beginnings of a school again.

In the first week there were between 20 and 30 kids each day. There were also 4 new children whose families are hoping that they can be enrolled in whatever comes next. You can’t keep a good idea down, not with irrepressible optimism like that around!
