After the attack that left the school in ruins, the teachers have no facilities or materials to work with. Sadly all that is left is rubble, burnt wood and scraps of rubbish.
Olng’arua teachers aren’t the kind to sit and mope however. Burnt wood is charcoal right? And amongst the scraps of rubbish are all sorts of bits and bobs that can be used for some learning fun.
Using ingenuity, and being adaptable, the Olng’arua teachers are carrying out fun lessons every day.
Though no doubt they will be quite relieved when we get the first buildings repaired and are able to replace and store more conventional learning materials, like exercise books, pencils, text books, story books, whiteboards…….
